Reviews
Love the Ristorante Gallo Nero!! A special dinner outing, clean, historic place with friendly staff & phenomenal Italian food!!
The restaurant is very close to the center of Siena.
Location is very nice and the staff of the restaurant is very nice and welcoming.
All the dishes were well prepared, with great attention to details and the balance of flavors.
At the end of the dinner I was really satisfied, excellent quality and quantity of food, good wine and all of that for a reasonable price.
If you are in Siena I strongly suggest you to go there and reserve your table for a nice lunch or dinner.
Absolutely recommended! I am writing this while finishing my dessert - and I can’t get enough. Every course was just special providing a whole new taste experience. Amazing!
We have really enjoyed our visit to Siena as part of our honeymoon, and decided to treat ourselves here for dinner on our last night.
The food was great and service was excellent. The crispy egg was great. It is an expensive restaurant, in our opinion, but not dissimilar to London prices so we were ok with it.
The last 30 mins were really spoiled when the manager (we think) sat down with a customer and watched Roma vs Milan on a propped up mobile phone with the volume up. It clashed massively with the classy music, refined atmosphere and lovely food, and really impacted our enjoyment of the evening. The waiters were more interested in the score of the match than realising how intrusive the tinny speaker blaring football commentary was.
Maybe it’s us, but we didn’t eat there thinking it was a sports bar. The €154 bill didn’t suggest it was a sports bar. It was disappointing to end the meal this way.
(We had the two glasses of white wine, steak tartare, crispy egg, mussel linguine, duck ragu gnochetti, a bottle of wine and 2 coffees, to give an idea of price)
For the price I expected better food.
The cuttlefish scallop smoked ricotta pasta was overpowered by the smokiness of the ricotta. The ragu was ok, but lacked some in depth and flavor.
The service was decent and the wine by the glass was ok.
The atmosphere was beautiful.
Be sure to make reservations online.
This restaurant is amazing
It is not quite traditional Italian food. It is quiet modern/ contemporary
Good suggestion on the wine too.
I will definitely try this again
Elegant dining room with great food and welcoming staff.
The waiters were very helpful with menu selection and recommended a dairy free change. We had a great chat with the sommelier and we’re recommended a glass of a great bottle they had just opened.
Nice atmosphere and we were even invited to tour their new wine cellar.
Polpo cotto due volte was lovely and crispy. Pancetta di maialino was fantastic!
Recommended for a romantic lunch.
Best Restaurant we could find in Siena. If you are willing to pay a bit more than average, you will get superior class of food and vine there. And: they have vegan offers too! We had a great 3 course menu there and payed about 120€ inclusive tip for 2 persons. Everything was perfect. They really deserve 5 stars.
